OT - Adding tags

Each Order Tagger workflow needs to be configured to either add or remove tags.

This article provides a quick guide with further links to explain the various ways that tags and notes can be added to an order.

Adding fixed tags

You can define one or more fixed tags to be applied to orders if all of the criteria in a workflow are met. They are called fixed tags because the tag names will not change. They are pre-defined tag names and are therefore fixed.

For further information, please read our article on setting up fixed tags.

Adding dynamic tags

Dynamic tags are tags that are created from data associated with the order, e.g. Shipping Country, Order Date, Discount Code used, etc. Dynamic tags can be applied to orders if all of the criteria within a workflow are met.

For further information, read our article on dynamic tags.

Appending tags to the order note field

Please Note:

Order notes are different to Order attributes (Additional details).

Order notes (available in most Shopify themes) allow Merchants to capture specific customer information on how to prepare or fulfill their orders. Order notes are usually captured via a text input area at the bottom of the cart page prior to checkout.

When enabled, if all of the criteria within a workflow are met, the Append Tags to the Order Note field feature will append any fixed and dynamic tags specified within the workflow to the bottom of the Order Notes field.

For further information, please read our article on Appending tags to the order note field.

Adding tags when the workflow DOES NOT match

The Adding tags when the workflow DOES NOT match option allows you to specify one or more fixed tags to be applied to an order when the criteria within the workflow are NOT met.

It's a good way to tag orders that would otherwise require you to create many order tagger workflows to identify.

For further information, please read our article on adding tags when the workflow does not match.
