Tag orders based on the total number of line items
If you'd like to tag orders based on the number of unique line items in the order, then our Total line items criteria can do just that.
Each unique variant added to the order counts as a single line item.
For those Merchants who provide product customisation options, each unique customisation of a variant will appear as a line item in the order.
Please note:
This is different to our Total quantity of items in the order criteria which is calculated by adding together all of the quantities of the line items within an order.
When configuring this criteria, you can choose if you want the total number of line items to be:
- Greater than
- Greater than or equal to
- Less than
- Less than or equal to
- Equal to
...a number that you specify.
How to use the criteria
To create a workflow using this criteria, click on the Create New Workflow button from the main Workflows view:
Define the trigger to determine at which point you would like the workflow to run, we recommend selecting the trigger when orders are created.
Click the Add criteria to my workflow button:
The Total line items criteria can be found within the Order category in the Select criteria pop-up window:
Click the Use in your workflow button on the right to select this criteria.
You will then be presented with the following conditions to select from:
Popular use case:
For illustration purposes, let's say that we'd like to tag any order where the total number of line items is equal to or less than 3.
Select Less than or equal to 3 from the available options:
Enter 3 as the value.
Choose the name of the tag you'd like to see on all orders that match this workflow and enter it into the Add tags when the workflow matches section. In this example we have used the tag lessthan4:
Click on the Add fixed tag button.
Saving and naming your workflow
It's worth giving your workflow a name to help you identify it at a later date, so add a workflow name in the New Workflow section, check the summary of your workflow and if happy, either Test your Workflow against an existing order or hit Save Workflow:
Each new order will be checked to see if the Total line items in the order is less than or equal to 3. If so, then the order will be tagged with the name of the fixed tag that you have selected.
Backdating
This criteria option will work when Backdating your orders.
Dynamic Tagging
The Total line items value can not currently be applied to the order as a Dynamic Tag.
