Tag customers based on product tags

If you need to tag your customers based on any product tags that exist on the products in the order, then this criteria is what you'll need.

How to use the criteria

To create a workflow using this criteria, click on the Create New Workflow button from the main Workflows view:

Define the trigger to determine at which point you would like the workflow to run, we recommend selecting the trigger when orders are created.

The Product Tags criteria can be found within the Product category in the Select criteria pop-up window:

Click the Use in your workflow button on the right to select this criteria.

You will see that there are a number of conditions in the criteria to select from:

Criteria Conditions

The following conditions allow you to check the Product Tags for various types of matches:

includes: Do any of the product tags in the order match exactly the tag name that you specify?

does NOT include: If none of the product tags in the order match exactly the tag name that you specify?

begins with: Do any of the product tags in the order begin with the string of text that you specify?

contains: Do any of the product tags in the order contain the string of text that you specify?

Select a criteria condition  based on what you are trying to identify in your Product Tags value.

Adding Tags

There are three ways to add tags using this criteria:

Use the matching product tag as a customer tag

You can add tags within this criteria by selecting the Use the matching product tag as a customer tag

When selecting this option, only the product tag that matches the criteria condition you have specified will be applied to the customer as a tag.

Fixed Tags

Choose the name of the tag you'd like to see on all customers that match this workflow and enter it into the Add tags when the workflow matches  FIXED TAGS TO BE APPLIED section:

Remember to click on the Add fixed tag button.

Dynamic Tags

If you'd like to apply all of the Product Tags from an order as customer tags, then we have a Dynamic Tag that you can configure to do this.
Go to the DYNAMIC TAGS TO BE APPLIED section of the workflow builder and click on the Add dynamic tag button:

Saving your workflow

It's worth giving your workflow a name to help you identify it at a later date, so add a workflow name in the New Workflow section, check the summary of your workflow and if happy, either Test your Workflow against a customer's existing order or hit Save Workflow:

Will this workflow work with Backdating?

Yes, this workflow is available to backdate using our backdating service.
